About WSOS:
Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) is a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership that builds pathways into high-demand Washington careers for Washington students. We reduce barriers to education and training and launch Washington students into high-demand careers.
About the Graduate Scholarship (GRD):
The GRD Scholarship was created to build a pipeline of nurse practitioners who can help fill the critical shortages of trained professionals in Washington’s health care system. Recipients receive up to $25,000 in scholarship funding over up to three years to support their practitioner-based Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at one of Washington’s six graduate nursing schools. Eligible program tracks include Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP- primary care), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-Primary care).
The GRD scholarship aims to increase the number of historically underrepresented health care providers in Washington’s Medically Underserved Areas (MUA) and Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA). Scholars complete at least half of their required clinical hours in a Washington state MUA or HPSA and intend to practice in a Washington state MUA or HPSA for at least two years after program completion.
