Washington has one of the fastest growing state economies with more trade, health care and STEM jobs than we can fill. WSOS aims to connect our state’s leading industries with top Washington talent by reducing barriers to education and training and facilitating entry into high-demand careers for Washington students. Working collaboratively with the state and industry partners, we launch low- and middle-income students into careers, maximizing the return on investment for the state and ensuring our state’s robust economy can continue to thrive.

With the generous support and engagement of industry and philanthropic donors – matched dollar-for-dollar by the state of Washington – WSOS prepares and launches Washington students into the careers that fuel our state economy. Industry leaders, including founding partners Boeing and Microsoft, help power our board because they recognize the need to bolster a pipeline of local talent to fill our state’s job needs.

WSOS is fortunate to have a network of industry partners committed to championing Washington students for Washington jobs. From mentors to summer internships, research opportunities and more -- our industry partners are critical to opening doors and building the networks our Scholars need to launch their career in Washington state.

Our Cornerstone Partners

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our cornerstone partners:

Skills that Shine Mentorship Program

The Skills that Shine (StS) mentorship program matches Scholars with industry professionals to develop their career readiness skills through a guided curriculum. Mentors are critical to helping Scholars explore career options, prep for their job search and make connections in the workforce. Mentors come to StS with a range of experiences from recent graduates to seasoned veterans across many STEM and health care fields. Regardless of experience, each mentor offers our Scholars valuable insight into their personal journey from student to professional.

Internship and Research Hosts

Many of our industry partners are tapping directly into our talent pipeline by providing Scholars with unique opportunities to intern, conduct research or apply for positions with their organization. WSOS staff work directly with organizations around the state to match organizations with talented Scholars and alumni to meet their employment, intern or research needs.
